Dr. Dellaero is a graduate of Duke University. He graduated from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He completed his orthopaedic surgery training at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Dellaero has completed additional fellowship training and research in Sports Medicine/Arthroscopy as well as Knee and Shoulder Reconstructive Surgery at the world renowned Hughston Sports Medicine Foundation. He also holds a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Sports Medicine*. Dr. Dellaero is a team physician for the Durham Bulls Baseball Team.

Dr. Dellaero has a broad range of knowledge of orthopaedic problems, with particular inter­est and expertise in the arthroscopic treatment of bone and joint diseases and in surgery of the knee and shoulder.

Dr. Dellaero is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery, and Orthopaedic Sports
Medicine, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and has been practicing since 1997.

*CAQ Sports Medicine: The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, in conjunction with the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, offers a certificate of added qualification for "those surgeons who have demonstrated qualifications beyond those expected of other orthopaedic surgeons by virtue of additional education, a practice characterized by a majority of cases in orthopaedic sports medicine, and contributions to this field of medicine." It is granted to orthopaedic surgeons who are approved to take and who pass a subspecialty examination in sports medicine. Fewer than 600 surgeons hold the sports CAQ nationally.
