Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery | Sports Medicine | Arthroscopic Surgery

Dr. Kuremsky is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon, subspecialty trained and certified in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery, as well as Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy. He has a particular interest in elbow,
hand, wrist, shoulder and knee problems. He is the only orthopaedic surgeon in North Carolina who holds double Board Certification for both Hand Surgery, and also Sports Medicine.

Dr. Kuremsky was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, where he was in the Echols Scholars Honors Program. He went on to complete medical
school at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City.

Dr. Kuremsky then completed his internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. During his residency, he was selected as a Chief Resident in Orthopaedic Surgery. Additionally, during his residency he completed two years as a Research Fellow, presenting at many national and local meetings and publishing research related to sports medicine and hand surgery. After residency, Dr. Kuremsky pursued a unique blend of subspecialty training. He first completed a Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, followed by a Fellowship in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopic Surgery at the renowned American Sports Medicine Institute under the direction of Dr. James Andrews. Through this, he has experience and interest in the care of upper extremity injuries in athletes of all ages, including throwing athletes, professional and college athletes, as well as adult and pediatric patients. With this extensive training, Dr. Kuremsky has developed broad clinical interests, including wrist and elbow arthroscopic surgery, elbow replacement, elbow ligament (“Tommy John”) reconstruction, labral and rotator cuff shoulder repair, and wrist ligament reconstruction. He also treats fractures of the upper extremity with a focus on elbow, wrist and shoulder fractures, as well as performs endoscopic carpal tunnel releases and sports medicine such as knee and shoulder surgery arthroscopy. He also has vast experience treating meniscus and cartilage knee injuries.

Dr. Kuremsky also has extensive experience as a team physician. He assisted with team coverage for the 2011-2012 National Champion Alabama Crimson Tide football team, as well as served as the team
physician for the Birmingham Barons minor league baseball team, and Huntingdon College while in Alabama. He is currently Team Physician of the Holly Springs Salamanders semi-pro baseball team, and Assistant Professor of the Department of Surgery at Campbell University School of Medicine. Dr. Kuremsky is presently one of the team physicians for Campbell University and their athletes.

Dr. Kuremsky’s approach to patient care focuses on the individual needs of each patient within the context of his comprehensive team, which includes his staff, certified hand therapists and physical therapists.
Together, Dr. Kuremsky and his team can derive the best treatment plan for each patient to suit their needs, lifestyle and activities.

Dr. Kuremsky continues to be involved in research, and most recently published chapters on both arthroscopic elbow surgery and Tommy John reconstructive surgery in the leading sports medicine textbook entitled “Orthopaedic Sports Medicine”. He has recently published research articles on arthroscopic surgery of shoulder and knee problems as well.

Dr. Kuremsky is married and resides in Raleigh with his wife Cara, and 2 daughters. In his free time, he enjoys working out, running, golf, reading, movies and many different sports and outdoor activities.
