Dr. Aldridge obtained his undergraduate degree from Duke University. He is a graduate of the Wake Forest University School of Medicine, and completed his orthopaedic surgery training at Duke University Medical Center. He then completed an additional year of subspecialty fellowship training in hand, upper extremity, and microsurgery at Duke University Medical Center. He served as assistant professor on the Duke Orthopaedic staff for four years, during which time he served as chief of orthopaedics at the Durham VAMC, and devoted countless hours towards research and teaching fellows, residents, and medical students.
Dr. Aldridge is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has received his certificate of added qualification (CAQ) in Hand Surgery. He is past president of the North Carolina Orthopaedic Association, the Duke Hand Society, and the North Carolina Society for Surgery of the Hand. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Southern Orthopaedic Association, the Piedmont Orthopaedic Society, the Bassett Orthopaedic Society, the Southeastern Hand Society, the Shoulder and Elbow Society, and the prestigious American Orthopaedic Association.
Dr. Aldridge has a broad range of knowledge of orthopaedic problems with subspecialty training in the upper extremity (hand, wrist, elbow), with interests ranging from complex trauma of the upper extremity, elbow disorders, arthritis, brachial plexus injury and reconstruction, endoscopic carpal tunnel release, Dupuytren’s, and tendonopathies, among many other pathologies.
Dr. Aldridge has received numerous accolades for clinical excellence, having been included in America’s Best Physicians list, elected to Best Doctors® now 6 years in a row, and also listed in the North Carolina Business Journal’s Best Doctors rankings.
In addition to a busy clinical practice, Dr. Aldridge remains committed to teaching. He was the youngest recipient of the Faculty teaching award while on staff at Duke University and has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles, published chapters in 5 textbooks, and has given over 80 lectures throughout North America, South American, Greece, Australia, Europe, and Japan on topics ranging from avascular necrosis of the hip to upper extremity anatomy and surgery of the hand. Dr. Aldridge resides in Durham with his wife and two daughters.
