Alexia H. Soria, MD

Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery

Dr. Soria is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in all conditions affecting the hand, wrist and elbow. She has advanced training and clinical interest in upper extremity trauma, inflammatory and osteoarthritis, carpal tunnel disease, compression neuropathies, Dupuytren’s disease, and tendonopathies, in addition to many other disease processes and conditions.

Dr. Soria was born and raised in New York City before obtaining her undergraduate Bachelors of Science degree from Duke University. After college she worked for two years in basic science orthopaedic research at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Her research specialized in bone biology and the biology of fracture healing.

Dr. Soria received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia before being accepted into the #1 ranked Orthopaedic Residency at The Hospital for Special Surgery. While in residency, Dr. Soria had the opportunity to study and work with some of the most celebrated orthopaedic surgeons in the world, authored 6 peer reviewed articles, presented at 17 conferences, won 6 research awards, and received additional training at Institute Kaplan in Barcelona with Dr. Marc Garcia Elias.

She completed her training with a hand, microvascular and upper extremity fellowship at Duke University. She is a candidate member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Soria was born and raised in New York City and now lives in Raleigh with her two sons.
